Meet The Uig Smokery Team

Dickon and Elly

Dickon and Elly

Dickon & Elly run Uig Lodge and the Uig Lodge smokery.  They moved up to Lewis in 2011 and live 100 yards from the lodge with their 3 young children, Arthur, Kitty and Marsaili.

Kenny and Emily MacKay

Kenny and Emily MacKay

Kenny and Emily moved from Glasgow to Carloway on the westside of Lewis where they have lived with their young family since 2015. Kenny has been one of the two head chef / managers at Uig Sands Restaurant since June 2019. Emily joined the team in Feb 2022, taking on the administative side of things, front of house management and developing the wine and drinks list. When the restaurant is shut they both enjoy moving over to work in the Smokehouse in the run up to Christmas, Emily mainly working in the office, Kenny mainly transporting / slicing and labelling the salmon. They are both keen runners and love nothing more than taking the kids camping to one of the many gorgeous beaches nearby.

Calum & Mairead Morrison

Calum has been part of the Uig Lodge team for many years and is the master slicer in the smokery. Mairead has also worked with Dickon and Elly for many years and splits her time between the Lodge, the Smokery and Uig Sands Rooms. When not at work they enjoy looking after their grandchildren, cooking and Calum loves to follow his beloved Rangers!

Finn

Finn has been an integral part of the team since he joined the smokery in 2005.

He has many great stories to tell of Island life and is always ready with a quick retort, keeping up morale especially during the busy Christmas season.

Nora

Nora is responsible for overseeing Uig Sands Rooms and also helps out a lot in the Lodge, Smokery and Restaurant – she is one busy lady!

Nat Horner Hack

Nat moved to Lewis with his family in 2017 when aged just 20. He began working in the Smokery and gained experience working in all areas of the business. As he already had worked in restaurants during his time in Bath, he was quickly snapped up to work in Uig Sands Restaurant once it opened and is now Sous Chef. Nat is looking forward to his upcoming wedding to Ronah, though will miss all the free time he currently gets to spend with Cassie (his cat)
