Uig Sands Restaurant FAQ
Bookings & Events
-
Yes, booking in advance is essential although its always worth checking on the day as we do sometimes get last minute cancellations. Please be aware that we have a strict chargeable (£50 per person) cancellation policy for anyone who does not arrive for their reservation, reduction of numbers or cancels less than 48 hours prior to their booking time. Our exact terms and conditions are communicated at the time of booking.
-
If you are interested in holding an event at the restaurant, please get in touch directly to discuss your requirements. We can cater up to a maximum number of 40 people.
Transport & Parking
-
There is currently no taxi service in Uig. However, there are taxi firms in Stornoway. If you are a larger group you could try the local minibus operator Peter Maclennan, 07836722368.
-
Yes, we do allow this by prior arrangement if you are dining at the restaurant. However, we only have a limited amount of carparking space so please check when you book. We have no facilities open overnight other than an outside tap so you must be self-contained. There are also campsites in Uig (Ardroil and Kneep) which are both a short drive away.
Pets & Accessibility
-
Unfortunately, we do not allow dogs into the restaurant unless they are assistance dogs.
-
Yes, we have disabled parking close to the front door, no steps and level access throughout the building. We have a unisex disabled toilet. There is a hearing loop fitted throughout the building. It’s always worth letting us know beforehand if you require any assistance as we will endeavour to seat you on a table with easiest access.
Families & Dietary Needs
-
We welcome all ages to the restaurant but we do ask that parents supervise their children at all times. We have a children’s menu for ages 13 and under. There is a nappy change unit and a limited number of highchairs. Please let us know if you will require any when you book.
-
We always have vegetarian and vegan options and a good range of gluten-free options. We ask that any dietary requirements or allergies are communicated to us at the time of booking and again when you are here. We can cater for most allergies if we are given sufficient notice. However, regrettably, owing to the high volume of fish and shellfish which is processed in the kitchen we are unable to serve any customers with a severe fish or shellfish allergy.
General Guest Info
-
There is no formal dress code.
-
Yes, we are licenced to serve alcohol but only with food. We have a full bar and a good wine list. If you do want to bring your own wine / champagne for a special occasion we charge a corkage fee of £20.00 per bottle.
Local Area

Where possible, we use as much produce from the local area as possible, working with a variety of local growers and fishermen.
